Trash & Recycling

All Waverly residents are provided disposal and recycling services. Fees are included in your monthly utility bill. Businesses contract privately for their services.

Trash &Recycling Guidelines

Trash is collected every Tuesday.
Trash must be at the curb by 6am. Place your poly-cart at the end of your driveway, no more than two feet from the road.  The arrows on the lid must be pointing toward the street, with the hinges facing away from the street.

For the following holidays, trash and recycling will be collected the next day:
Christmas, New Year, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day

Only items placed in the poly-cart provided by Republic Trash will be collected. The container will only hold up to 200 lbs.  Please do not overload the container. Please call city hall if your container is damaged.

Residents are allowed one bulky item per week. This item must not obstruct your poly-cart and should not exceed 50 lbs and must be less than 3 feet by 4 feet. It is your responsibility to carry anything larger to the landfill.

Tree trimmings must be tied in bundles not exceeding 3 feet in length and 12 inches in diameter.

Tires or large appliances must be taken to the Coffey County Landfill

Do not discard batteries, paint cans, used oil or other hazardous waste in your trash. Please take these items directly to the Coffey County Hazardous Waste Department and dispose of them properly.

City-wide clean-up is offered to every resident each April and October, these dates coincide with Coffey County Free Landfill weeks. Metal items collected during the city-wide clean-up include: washers, dryers, stoves, hot water heaters, refrigerators, microwaves, air conditioners, bicycles, wagons, wire, and sheet metal, etc.

Yard debris items must be bundled or stacked: tree limbs, shrubs, grass clippings, and items of this nature.

The following items will NOT be picked-up: hazardous materials such as old paint cans, oil and gas cans, chemicals, and other items that would be considered “hazardous.” These items must be taken directly to the landfill. The landfill is free the week of City-wide Clean-up.
